Spring has Sprung

Today, the weather in NYC is finally above 50 degrees! We have been willing spring to get here and it seems like it might have just arrived. Here are some favorite outdoor inspiration shots to put some spring in your step.

Work might not seem SO bad…

If you could sit at a desk like one of these. We’re working on an office project right now and have been looking at hundreds of desks and have discovered that it’s actually hard to find a desk that is both functional AND is somewhat aesthetically appealing. While the desks below might not be the most practical, they sure would make sitting down to work a heck of a lot more fun don’t you think?

One Kings Lane Tastemaker Sale…

April is proving to be an exciting month for us—tomorrow we’re doing a Tastemaker Sale with One Kings Lane! And just in time too, our storage unit is packed and we cannot add one more thing to it. Our apartments are starting to burst at the seams from the overflow. If you aren’t a member of this great site, all you have to do is register and voila!—you have access to the great sales they do daily. Thanks for having a look and passing along.

Trad Home’s 20 New Trad Designers

We’ve been keeping this a secret since January, but finally the issue has arrived. We’re so excited to announce that we have been named one of Trad Home’s 20 designer’s to watch in 2011! The magazine features the gorgeous home of our dear friend and client, Sara Naghedi.

We are so honored to be a part of such an inspiring group of designers!

Please help us get the word out and vote for us as your favorite Trad Home designers here: http://www.traditionalhome.com/duralee/

For the Love of Photography…

We love photography of all kinds and all subject matter, though birds/animals and land/seascapes are some of our favorites. We encourage all of our clients to have at least one piece in their art collections–and they usually end up with the same passion for the medium as we have.
Below are some photographer’s work we really admire.

Troy Moth‘s exquisite birds of prey. Could happily stare at this fellow all day.

Dimitry Miroshnikov‘s wonderful and evocative photographs range from land to sea. This is one of our favorites.

Morten Koldby‘s photographs of animals make us, frankly, a bit giddy. How does he get them to sit that still and to pose so beautifully?

Alexander Semenov captures the alien-like creatures of the sea in a way that makes us wonder about getting back in the ocean again (well, not really but still…). We didn’t see anything quite this spectacular on our recent trip to the Caribbean, though we did both manage to get stung by a jellyfish.

And finally, but most importantly, we wanted to let you know about a wonderful fundraising event taking place on Monday, April 11th for PROOF: Media for Social Justice, founded by our good friend (and hero) Leora Kahn. PROOF: Media for Social Justice uses photography as means to inform and educate global audiences about human rights.
More information about PROOF and the event via the link above. We hope to see you there and be sure to bring your checkbook–some amazing photographers have donated work to be auctioned off for this event! If you can’t attend we encourage you to make a donation to support PROOF’s work.
