Scouted Today: Sleepy Jones

Just came across these fantastic PJs from Andy Spade’s new brand Sleepy Jones and had to share. When it comes to product and branding, Mr. Spade and his long-time collaborators Anthony Sperduti and Chad Buri can do no wrong. We know we’d love to sleep in these guys as the weather warms up. Sold!

Our latest obsession: CISTHENE

It all started with this beautiful silk scarf discovered on Pinterest.

Determined to find out how we could get one of these beauties ourselves, we started sleuthing online and discovered its creator: Jen Altman. And now we have a full-blown obsession (sorry Laurie, but obsession it is).

Altman is nothing short of a one-woman creative machine: she’s a professional photographer, author, has not one but two super cool blogs (Nectar and Cisthene), as well as having an online store called CISTHENE that sells a beautifully curated selection of jewelry, apothecary items, leather bags, and scarves created from images from her book Gem and Stone: Jewels of Earth, Sea and Sky. Oh, and she also runs the annual Instant Love retreat at our friend Maryam Montague’s Peacock Pavillion in Marrakech, Morocco. Suffice to say, we’re smitten.

Here are a few of our favorite things from CISTHENE:

Magpie by Haskell Harris…

We often say that the best part of our job on any given day are the people we get to meet and know. From our clients and vendors to other interior designers (Tilton Fenwick ladies, Ron Marvin, Nick Olsen…) and beyond, we are blessed to have gotten to know so many wonderful people since starting Scout Designs. One of those people is the ever lovely Haskell Harris. Not only is she one of the chicest, most creative people we know, she is also one of the nicest.

We first met Haskell via her work at Garden & Gun magazine when she covered our very first project on her design blog there. Besides it being incredibly flattering that she had chosen to cover us, coming from her it was a nice boost of confidence that we were on the right path in following our dream to launch the business. We have been fortunate over the last couple of years to get to know Haskell and are always curious what she’s up to…because it is always something super creative.

While she continues to produce stories for Garden & Gun, she has also recently started her own interior design business based in Charleston, S.C. and has created a blog called MAGPIE. And her Pinterest is one our favorites. If there is something she can’t do, we don’t know about it!

She is doing a fun series on her blog about people’s collections and recently asked Nicki if she would be willing to photograph some of her jewelry collection and to share some of the stories behind the many pieces she owns. Below are some of her favorite rings and you can find the full post here.

Happy Wednesday!

Major Girl Crush…Sass & Bide

When we’re not obsessing about sofas, chandeliers, vintage lamps, antique rugs and the like, we’re fantasizing about what gorgeous things we could fill our closets with. Lately we’ve both been wanting to chuck the lot of all we own and start over entirely. And here is exactly where we would start: SASS & BIDE

Their mission statement says they are “dedicated to the strong, the obscure & the beautiful”, and the two founders (Sarah- Jane Clarke & Heidi Middleton) are walking testaments to that. Based out of Australia, they are now shipping to the U.S. and are planning on opening a NYC boutique in 2013! In the meantime, you can shop online and keep up with them on their own very cool blog.

Nomatic Thread Society

There are two things in life that we could never live without–textiles and travel. When we stumbled upon stylist Nicole Gulotta’s new online shop Nomatic Thread Society, we knew we had found a kindred spirit. Gulotta curates her finds from far flung places like Africa, India and Turkey. Her textiles can be used as everything from shawls to bed spreads to pillows. Can’t wait to use some of her goodies in our next projects!
