Roundtop, Texas Flea Market

Two weeks ago, we took off to Texas to discover one-of-a-kind antiques, objets and an elusive cowboy or two at the Roundtop Flea Market. Twice a year, this tiny town (population 77) transforms into a 10 day antique shopper’s mecca featuring 1000s of vendors and dealers from all over the US. We spent two glorious days scouting out gorgeous furniture, jewelry, and eating good ol’ southern food…homemade pimento cheese sandwiches anyone?

Check out some our finds and a few things we couldn’t leave behind!

A funky dresser perfect for a bar or entry piece.

Insane turquoise from one of our favorite dealers found at the Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena!

We died over this leather sofa–the color, the modern lines…all perfection!

These modern planters would be perfect indoors or out.

Nicki’s found her new favorite thing. Hello Squash Blossom!

We already miss this gorgeous view…until next time Texas!

New Favorite Site: TASTEMADE

Today’s discovery is too delicious not to share~Tastemade.com, which launched in early March. Their mission statement: Tastemade, based in Santa Monica, CA, is a global media company with a mission to connect the world through food. Through its platform, studio and network of culinary talent around the world, Tastemade produces a wide range of programming designed to inspire people to learn and spread their passion for food.

We’ve already watched a number of the videos on their Youtube channel. Our favorite thus far is A Day in India which has us wishing we were about to embark on a trip there (it’s a constant daydream). So grab your favorite beverage–a nice bourbon or aged rum would be our pick–and indulge in a little culinary voyeurism. A little warning: you might find yourself running out to grab supplies to make the “The Slacker Milkshake”.

Photographer Dillon Marsh…

It is no secret we love photography and it’s a happy day when we discover a new photographer. Such is the case with South African photographer Dillon Marsh’s work. We are drawn to his stark landscapes and are fascinated by the way he isolates a particular subject and creates a series out of them–power lines, dead trees, cell phone towers–are just some of the things he masterfully captures. And oh the weaver birds nests…such incredible houses they make. Would love to see those in person. Here are a few of our favorite photographs from his site.

Nick Olsen for Lee Jofa

Last week, we celebrated the unveiling of our dear friend and talented designer Nick Olsen‘s winter blues busting room for the Lee Jofa’s showroom in the D&D Building. He is a master at mixing color, pattern and texture to create rooms that are full of life and fun. This one brought an instant smile to our faces. We could not be more proud of you, Nick! Congratulations, and three cheers all around!
